mapplot uses frontier vision-language models — including Claude and GPT-4V — under the hood. We don't train proprietary models. We use the best ones available and swap them out when better ones ship.
You get state of the art without paying for someone else's R&D cycle. For general analysis tasks — change detection, summaries, natural-language queries — these models are excellent. For niche enterprise-specific tasks like OSHA hazard detection trained on billions of sq ft of construction data, DroneDeploy's proprietary models have years of training we don't. That's a tradeoff worth knowing. Most operators don't need that.
